Found an old tent in my basement that somehow still had the original packing list from 2003
I was cleaning out my basement last weekend and pulled out this old Kelty tent I bought back in high school. Inside the stuff sack was the original receipt and a handwritten list of every trip I took with it that summer, 13 campsites all marked down with dates and locations. The funny part is the receipt showed I paid $89.99 for it at a place that closed down like 15 years ago. Has anyone else ever found old trip logs or gear receipts stashed away like that?

Yeah, but that old tent probably weighs like 15 pounds and leaks in anything more than a drizzle.

Wait, @felix414 are you telling me that my grandpa's canvas tent from 1982 isn't cutting it anymore? lol Yeah, maybe the 12 pounds of mildew smell and the fact that it turns into a wading pool during a light mist are clues. But hey, at least it doubles as a sauna when the sun comes out, you know? You gotta respect a tent that's been through more family drama than Thanksgiving dinner.

Yeah I had pretty much the same problem with an old family tent, ended up swapping it out for a cheap Coleman dome tent that weighs like six pounds. That thing was a lifesaver on a rainy trip to Lake Erie last summer, stayed bone dry inside even with a solid overnight downpour. It wasn't fancy or anything, just a basic model from Walmart, but it worked way better than that heavy canvas mess I was hauling around.
