TIL they stopped making my favorite model of kitchen faucet back in 2018
I had to pick between a $90 rebuild kit for my old 2007 faucet or drop $350 on a new one last month. I went with the rebuild kit because the old one still had solid brass inside, and after 2 hours of wrestling with gaskets it works better than new. Anybody else deal with companies quietly discontinuing parts for stuff that was built to last forever?

Had to do the same thing with a Moen kitchen faucet from 2010. Found a $65 rebuild kit on Amazon with a new cartridge and all the o-rings. Took me damn near 3 hours cause I stripped one of the hex screws but yeah that brass body is way better than the cheap plastic stuff they sell now. Smart move keeping it going.

Yeah @hugos46, those hex screws are brutal. Gotta use a good Allen key that fits tight, not the loose one from the junk drawer.

Stick with brass? I'll take the cheap plastic stuff all day. Those rebuild kits are money pits when the faucet is already a decade old. $65 for a rebuild kit on a faucet you could replace for $100 new is just bad math. Plus you spent 3 hours messing with stripped screws and busted knuckles. My time's worth more than that. Swap the whole thing out in 45 minutes with a $90 Glacier Bay and be done. Sure it's not built like a tank, but it works fine for 5-7 years and you're not stuck hunting down special tools and gaskets when something finally goes.
