Found a weird trick for reducing rhinoplasty swelling - ice cubes on my neck?

After my nose job in Austin 3 weeks ago, my surgeon told me to ice my neck instead of my nose directly, and it cut my bruising time in half compared to what I see in most online recoveries. Has anyone else tried this neck ice method or have a different hack that actually sped up healing?
