I read that rhinoplasty swelling can take 18 months to fully settle - blew my mind
I was looking at some surgeon's FAQ page yesterday and saw that the final result of a nose job might not be visible for a year and a half. I always figured after 6 months you were basically done. It made me think about all those posts where people panic at month 3 thinking their nose looks lopsided or weird. Does the tip really keep changing shape that long? Has anyone here actually tracked their progress month to month and noticed big shifts after the first year?

Hmm, I gotta push back a little on the "final result" part. I think the big structural changes are done way sooner, like by month 3 or 4. The rest is just super subtle settling of scar tissue (like, microscopic stuff you'd never notice). Most of those panicked posts at month 3 are just people being hyper aware of minor swelling that nobody else would see anyway.

I saw some plastic surgeon on Instagram break it down and he said the tip cartilage keeps settling for like 12 to 18 months because it's the last thing to lose that thick swelling. Apparently the tip is just way more stubborn than the bridge. I have a friend who got one done and around month 8 she was convinced the tip dropped too much and looked droopy. Then by month 14 she said it lifted back up a tiny bit and looked way better. So that 18 month timeline feels real to me now, even if months 3-6 look pretty normal.
