One month post-rhinoplasty and I finally saw my actual nose today
I'm 4 weeks out from septorhinoplasty with Dr. Chen in Portland. Everyone online kept saying "wait for the swelling to go down" but I didn't realize how much my brain had just... accepted this big blob as my new face. This morning I woke up, looked in the mirror, and there it was, my real nose underneath. It's not fully done changing but I can finally see the tip definition they were talking about. Did any of you have that moment where it suddenly clicked and you felt like you recognized yourself again?

Gotta admit, I used to roll my eyes at people getting emotional over a nose job. Thought it was just vanity. But reading this made me rethink everything. It's not about the nose itself, it's about finally matching what you see in the mirror with what you feel inside. Like finally getting glasses and realizing the whole world was blurry. Kinda makes you wonder how many other things we just accept without realizing they're holding us back.

You see this kind of thing everywhere, not just with surgery. People get new glasses and suddenly realize how fuzzy everything was. Or they paint a room and forget what the original color looked like. Your brain just settles for the new normal until something snaps it back. @the_fiona is right, it is emotional because it's your brain finally catching up with reality. It's like the fog lifts and you get to actually see what's been right in front of you the whole time.
