My little victory after 3 months of calling the city

There's this crater on Maple Street near the 7-Eleven that's been eating car tires for a year. I tried the standard report a pothole line and nothing happened. Then I read somewhere to email your city council member directly with photos and the exact GPS coordinates. I did that 2 weeks ago and yesterday they actually patched it. Has anyone else had better luck going straight to the council instead of the city works department?

lol that "eat car tires" part is so accurate. My buddy in the next town over tried the same thing with a sinkhole near the bus stop and got it fixed in like a week after sending a pic to the council person's personal email.

That's the exact same thing I did on my street actually. Had this pothole by the old gas station that was so deep you could hide a small dog in it. Called the city works line about six times over four months and got nothing but the runaround. So I looked up my council member's email online, wrote a short message with three photos showing how deep it was, and bam they had a crew out there within two weeks. The foreman even told me that the council member's office had been "flagged" on it which is apparently code for jump the list. Funny how a little pressure on the right person makes things happen when the regular channels just sit on it forever.
