Overheard a guy at the track saying his brake pads lasted 4 track days, I get like 2 max
I was at Summit Point last Saturday and this dude in a Miata was bragging he gets 4 weekends out of one set of pads. I'm running a Focus ST with EBC Yellows and they're cooked after 2 days easy. What pads are you guys running that actually survive more than a couple sessions without fading?

Man, I feel you on those EBC Yellows. I ran them on my old car and they were toast after like 1.5 track days. That Miata guy is probably lying or just doesn't brake as hard as we do. My Focus ST eats pads for breakfast, especially if the track has any kind of straight where you're hauling ass before a hairpin. I switched to Hawk DTC-60s and they lasted a solid 3 weekends, but they're noisy as hell on the street and dust like crazy. You honestly just gotta accept that heavier cars like ours murder pads, it's the price we pay for being faster in the straights. Maybe try looking into a dual purpose pad like Carbotech XP8 or something, but don't expect miracles unless you're willing to swap pads between the street and track.

Ackchyually @susansingh, the ST is heavier but the Miata probably has crap pads too.

Gently push back on that Miata take @michael_green44, but the pad issue is more about driving style than just weight. A Focus ST is pushing like 600+ more pounds than a Miata so it's gonna eat any brake pad way faster regardless of compound. The real tell is how consistent your braking is from lap to lap not just what pads you run.
