That $400 brake pad upgrade I tried was a total waste

I saw everyone raving about these semi-metallic brake pads for track days, so I dropped $400 on a set for my 2013 Mustang GT. Installed them last weekend, took my car to the track at Summit Point on Saturday. By lap 5, they were already fading bad, pedal went to the floor in turn 3. My $80 stock pads from Autozone never did that on a hot day. I ended up swapping back to the old pads in the parking lot, wasted a full day and cash on something that made things worse. Anyone else fall for an overpriced mod that just didn't work on track?

Oh, I've been there. Spent a fortune on fancy pads that couldn't even handle a mild hill.

Always figured brake pads were just brake pads until you pay more you get more. This totally flips that idea on its head for me. Guess sometimes the hype is just marketing and not actual improvement.

Marketing runs deep in the car parts world. Most expensive pads just have fancier packaging and a bigger name behind them. Good to see someone calling out the nonsense.
