How my Lisbon conference trip revealed a packing flaw that tanks focus

I used to cram my carry-on with multiple outfit changes and gadgets to stay 'prepared' on the road. In Lisbon, the constant digging for cables and deciding what to wear each morning wasted a solid hour of prime work time daily. Now I travel with a capsule wardrobe and one universal adapter, period. The mental clarity from less decision fatigue is a game-changer for getting actual work done abroad.

Totally get this. Overpacking is a trap, man. On my last biz trip, I had like four outfits per day and wasted so much time deciding. Ended up wearing the same jeans three times, lmao. Digging for cables while rushing to a meeting is the worst. Switched to a capsule setup and my stress levels dropped big time. Less clutter in the bag, less noise in the head.

Haha, @simon_young46, you're speaking my language. I once packed three different pairs of shoes for a two-day trip because I couldn't decide between comfortable, stylish, and just in case. Ended up wearing the same sneakers the whole time and lugging around dead weight. My bag was such a disaster zone that finding my phone charger felt like an archaeological dig. Switching to a minimal setup was a game changer, though I still occasionally panic and throw in an extra hoodie for emergencies. Less stuff really does mean less stress, even if my inner overpacker fights it sometimes.

But honestly, is it that deep? Forgetting your charger just means you buy a cheap one at the airport or borrow one. Wearing the same shoes for two days isn't a crisis. Sometimes I think we turn basic travel hiccups into huge mental drama. It's just stuff in a bag, not a life-or-death mission. My old overstuffed suitcase never caused real stress, just a sore shoulder.
