Coworker swore I would save $30 on car insurance by bundling with renters

My office mate Mark kept pushing me to bundle my renters and car insurance for a discount, saying I'd pocket $30 a month easy. I finally called my provider last week and ran the numbers - my rate actually went up $8 because of some weird multi-policy fee they tacked on. Has anyone else gotten burned by this 'bundling saves money' advice or did I just get a bad agent?

Mark promised me $30 off too but my quote went up $12 so I feel your pain. Insurance companies really know how to make "savings" sound like a total scam. Bundling is just a trap to get you to hand over more info so they can find ways to charge you extra.

That "savings scam" thing reminds me, my buddy @murray.cora once got a "free" quote that cost him $40 in fees. Wild.
