Just realized I've been loading the dishwasher wrong for 15 years
Used to just cram everything in facing whatever direction fit, then run it on heavy cycle every time. Last month I started actually angling plates toward the center and putting bowls on the bottom rack only. My glasses come out spotless now instead of having that weird foggy film on them. What other basic household stuff am I apparently doing backwards?

Not sure I completely agree on the glasses thing. I've had better luck hand drying them with a microfiber cloth right after the cycle ends, gets rid of that film better than any rack positioning ever did for me. Maybe try that before overthinking the whole loading system.

Right, but I've been running a crew doing remodels for years and that film is usually hard water deposits not just leftover moisture. Hand drying with a microfiber cloth works okay if you catch it right away, but the real fix is adjusting your rinse aid setting or checking your water softener if you have one. Loading matters too, I've seen way less spotting when I tilt glasses downward so they drain completely instead of pooling.

Right there with you on the dishwasher loading thing, it feels life changing once you figure it out. @jakewhite has a good point about microfiber cloths, I tried that trick last week on some old coffee mugs and it worked way better than I expected. The foggy film on glasses can be such a pain, I thought I was just stuck with it forever until I started tilting everything at an angle. Hand drying the delicate stuff right after the cycle ends has honestly saved me from buying new glassware.
