The week my car payment got skip-traced changed everything

I missed two payments on a $380 loan for a 2012 Honda Civic because I lost my restaurant job back in March. Then one Thursday I got a call from a guy named Ray at Credit Acceptance Corp who said they'd offer a hardship deferment if I could prove I was job hunting. I sent them 8 applications I'd filled out that week and they bumped my due date by 60 days with no extra fees. Has anyone else had a lender actually work with them like that instead of just sending it to collections?

So Ray actually called you instead of sending it straight to collections?

Damn, did Ray actually seem human on the phone or was it just another scripted pitch?

Exactly what I was wondering. The thing nobody's talking about is if they recorded the call. An actual human would slip up or say something off script, a pro telemarketer reads a screen. If you heard him fumble for words or pause in a weird way, that tells you more than the actual words he said. I'd bet money Ray's just the name they flash on the screen for that sales floor.
