Wasted $300 on a 'credit repair' agency that did nothing
I signed up with CreditFix Solutions in Phoenix back in March after they promised to remove all my late payments. Paid them $300 upfront and they just sent me form letters to dispute everything, which all came back verified. Now I'm out the money and my credit score is exactly the same. Has anyone actually had luck with these places or am I better off just paying down my debts myself?

Straight up those credit repair places are mostly a scam. They just do the same stuff you can do for free yourself - dispute things and hope something sticks. I learned this the hard way after my buddy paid one of them $400 and got nothing out of it except a headache. Your best bet is honestly just chipping away at your debts and making sure everything else is on time for a few months. Takes longer but at least you keep your money and the progress is real.

Wait, did they actually tell you they'd "remove" late payments that are accurate? That's a HUGE red flag because no legit company can do that - only time or the actual creditor can fix true info. You're way better off doing what ben_lewis said and just paying stuff down yourself, plus maybe check out non-profit credit counseling if you need help negotiating something.
