Hit a curb in Duluth last Tuesday. Found out it's illegal to park facing the wrong way on a residential street.
I got a ticket for it. Cop said it's a real ordinance here. Who actually enforces that stuff? Anyone else get popped for parking the wrong way on a side street?

Yeah, got one of those tickets a couple years back on Maple Street near the old library. Cop was parked right across from me watching, I swear he was waiting for someone to do it. The fine was like 35 bucks, not huge but still annoying for something that harmless. Street was empty and I was only there for ten minutes. Felt like a total setup.

Never used to think much about these parking tickets until last summer. My daughter got one on Elm Street downtown, ran into the bakery for two minutes, came out and there it was on her windshield. Still bothers me when I think about it. The officer had to have seen her jump out and run inside, it wasn't some long term parking situation. Changed my view on these things because it feels less about safety and more about hitting a quota when it happens that fast.

Yeah exactly, it's like the whole system has just turned into a numbers game. You see it everywhere now, not just with parking tickets. There's that bakery owner on Main who got dinged because his sidewalk sign was two inches too far out, even though nobody was walking by and it's clearly marked. The city keeps saying it's about safety but then you've got cops hiding behind bushes and mailing fines. It's the same as when my buddy got a ticket for having his driver's license a few days past the renewal date, cop said he was just being thorough. Makes you wonder if they're just trying to hit a certain number each month so the higher-ups can say they're doing their jobs.
