That old law about owning a duck without a leash in our town got me thinking

I used to think all weird old laws were harmless until I got a $75 fine from the city of Greenfield for letting my pet duck walk beside me without a leash. The code from 1923 says waterfowl must be 'restrained within 10 feet of the owner' on public paths. Now I actually check the local ordinances for my hobby farm animals because that ticket taught me these laws still get enforced when someone complains.

What did the duck do to get someone to actually call the cops?

Wait, did you actually have to pay the full $75, or did you fight it first? Were there witnesses that day or was it just the officer and you?

Hold up, you got a ticket in Greenfield? I live about 20 miles from there and I heard that duck leash law got repealed back in 2018 after some local news story. You might want to double check because I'm pretty sure that code is ancient history now. I mean, its worth a call to the city clerk before you pay anything. Idk for sure but it sounds like that officer might have been enforcing something that doesn't even exist anymore.
