My mask fogged up so bad I thought I saw a mermaid
I was diving off the coast of Florida last month, exploring a shipwreck. Halfway through, my mask started fogging up like crazy. I tried to clear it, but it just got worse. At one point, I swear I saw a human shaped figure swim by, and I almost panicked. Turns out it was just a big barracuda reflecting light weirdly. My buddy had to signal me to calm down because I was flailing around. We still laugh about it every time we go diving.

Always thought those mermaid sightings were just tall tales. But after my mask fogged up and I mistook a manatee for a sea monster, I'm not so sure anymore.

Ever had your mask fog so bad everything looks weird? My friend once thought a sea turtle was a ghost, kinda like how @nancyjones saw a manatee as a monster.

Could a lot of sea monster stories just be from fogged up masks? Like, what if people saw normal animals but their gear messed with their view. That would make sense for a bunch of old sailor tales.
