SEO for my shop flipped my take on backlinks.

I thought backlinks were overrated, but they boosted my traffic. Your thoughts?

Ever have a friend who thought something was totally useless until it saved their skin? My buddy with a tiny pottery shop was like that with backlinks. He called them a waste of time for months. Then a couple local blogs wrote about his mugs and linked to him, and bam, his site visits from Google search doubled in like a week. He still grumbles about the work, but he can't argue with the orders now.

Honestly that local press link thing is so real. A niche blog in my town wrote up my friend's bike repair side gig and it completely changed his search results. Turns out Google really does care when other sites in your area vouch for you.

Totally get that shift in thinking. Felt the same way about backlinks for my own project. Wrote them off as old news and a hassle. Then a local community site did a feature and linked to us. Our page started showing up higher for basic searches almost right away. It changed my whole view on how search engines actually work.
