Thematic sketchbooks are just another way to overthink the creative process. Constantly curating pages distracts from actually making art. Some of the best work comes from pure, unfiltered chaos.

My sketchbooks used to be pure chaos until a client meeting where I couldn't find the right page. Now I use color-coded tabs like some kind of convert, lol.

Oh, I was absolutely that hardliner. My old sketchbooks look like a tornado hit a museum gift shop. Then I tried grouping a series of character studies by color palette and, begrudgingly, realized I could actually find things. Turns out "pretentious" is just what we call organizational skills we're too lazy to learn.
