Hit 10,000 steps a day for 30 days straight and my knee pain vanished

I started walking laps around the park during lunch last month and hit that 10,000 mark every day without really trying. Never expected a simple step count to fix a problem I'd had for years. Anyone else have a weird milestone that solved something unexpected?

My dad swore by 12,000 steps a day for his sciatica and I rolled my eyes for years until I tried it myself during a work trip to Chicago. That number absolutely changed everything for my lower back pain, it's wild how simple walking can be.

12,000 steps is a pretty specific number, like your dad had a deal with the pedometer company or something. I've got some nerve issues in my hip and tried counting steps for a week, got up to maybe 7,000 on a good day, and honestly my back felt exactly the same, just more tired. It's cool that it worked for you on a work trip where you're probably walking nonstop anyway, but I'm not convinced it's some magic cure for everyone.

Had a buddy with the same issue, swore walking was for old folks until his back gave out on a hiking trip. He started slow, like 8,000 steps a day, and within a month said the pain dropped by half. It's annoying how something so boring actually works.
