I finally snapped at the grocery store self-checkout machine
It kept yelling at me to 'place item in bagging area' when I was holding a single lime. I just walked out and left my cart sitting there with all the stuff in it. Has anyone else just abandoned a full cart over something dumb?

Man that lime story hits WAY too close to home. I once full on sprinted out of a Target after the bagging scale called me a liar over a single bag of frozen peas. Left the whole cart there with my discounted Valentines candy and everything. The worst part is I STILL think about that candy sometimes. Grocery store tech is just designed to make us feel like criminals for trying to buy groceries.

Walked out on a full cart at Publix last week over a misbehaving avocado scale.

...and that's exactly why I don't trust any scale that talks back to me, the self checkout at Home Depot once accused me of stealing a caulk tube I hadn't even scanned yet. I swear these machines are programmed to gaslight you into abandoning your whole cart, like @the_tessa probably had a perfectly good avocado that just wanted to be left alone. I still think about that bag of frozen peas from your story, Jamie, grocery tech is just broken for no reason.
