That viral video of a shark swimming down a flooded highway after a hurricane is actually 3 different clips spliced together

I found the original source for the first clip on a marine research site from 2018, the second clip is from a storm drain in Australia, and the third is a cgi render from a student film, so has anyone else noticed how often disaster footage gets mashed up like this?

honestly though does it really matter if its real or not? people share that stuff cuz its wild and entertaining same way i dont fact check every meme my cousin sends me in the group chat. the shark in the flood video looked cool, got millions of views, nobody got hurt from believing it. you can find spliced clips in every major disaster now from hurricanes to wildfires it's just how the internet works. unless someone's using a fake to scam people out of money or spread dangerous info i say let people enjoy their crazy shark video. real or fake someone still had to put work into making that student film or editing the clips together.

Pretty sure I've shared two or three fake disaster clips myself without realizing it (my cousin sends me stuff too, I just forward it along like a dummy). My personal record is watching a whole five minute "bear attacks family in backyard" video before realizing the bears were very clearly CGI and I'd been had by a student animation project. At least with the shark people get a fun story out of it, and nobody's calling the plumber to check their basement for shark bites, so what's the harm.

Oh man, I'm the kind of person who would sit through a whole fake shark disaster video and THEN realize I've been had, so I really appreciate you actually doing the digging here. My detective skills peak at Googling "is this real" while my cat sits on my keyboard.
