Just realized that "The Hunger Games" is basically "Battle Royale" with a bow and arrow

Watched the original Japanese Battle Royale last week and now I can't unsee how much Hunger Games copied it down to the forced fights and government control, but does changing the setting from an island to a dome really make it original?

Yeah, "forced fights and government control" is basically the whole plot of both. I remember reading Hunger Games in high school and thinking it was so original, then I watched Battle Royale last week and felt like I accidentally read the CliffNotes version of an older movie. Makes me wonder if my own taste in dystopian fiction is just recycled plots from stuff I haven't seen yet. I'm pretty sure my life is just a bad mashup of other people's ideas at this point.

@phoenix_bailey honestly once you start noticing the patterns you can't unsee them haha. I had the same moment when I realized how many movies are just remixes of older stuff. Best piece of advice I ever got was just stop worrying about being original and focus on making something you'd personally want to watch or read...
