Spent $150 on a portable solar panel setup and it kept my fridge running for 4 days after a blackout
Got the Renogy 100W panel and a cheap battery box off Amazon, and during that 3-day outage in July it kept my food cold while my neighbors were tossing theirs, anyone else found a solid emergency power setup that didn't cost a fortune?
My neighbor had the same Renogy panel and his fridge barely made it two days before the battery dropped below 12 volts. What kind of fridge are you running that sips power like that? Most standard models pull 100-150 watts running and these "budget" setups just dont have the storage to handle that for long unless you're running a DC compressor unit or something.
Same here with my 100W Renogy (well, actually a different brand but same wattage). I ran my little 12V camping fridge off it for almost four days before the battery started getting low. It's all about what kind of fridge you're pairing it with, I use one of those dual-zone compressor fridges and it barely pulls 45 watts on a hot day. People underestimate how much difference the right fridge makes, you know?
