Tried a Faraday cage for my phone last weekend and it worked too well
I bought one of those $30 Faraday pouches to protect against EMPs or whatever. Put my phone in it for 2 hours and couldn't find it because I forgot where I left the pouch. Learned that if you lose your phone in a Faraday bag, you basically lose your phone. Has anyone else had trouble keeping track of these things?

Honestly, that's a huge design flaw. Like, what's the point of a Faraday cage if you can't find your own property inside it? Ngl, I'd be panicking after 30 minutes wondering if the thing fell behind some furniture or got tossed in the trash somehow.
I gotta ask though, were you actually testing it for EMP protection or just trying to see if it blocked signal for a bit? Because if you're prepping for the apocalypse, losing your phone in a pouch seems like the least of your worries, but also the most annoying one.
Tbh, maybe just stick to airplane mode if you need a break from your phone. At least you'll know where it is when you want it back.

Hold up, I gotta push back on this. The whole point of a Faraday cage is that it works so well you can't even track it, right? That's literally the feature, not a bug. If you could find your phone via GPS or cell signal while it's in the pouch, then the pouch would be garbage at blocking EMPs or whatever. You want it to be a total black hole for signals, even the ones bouncing off your own walls. Losing the pouch for two hours is annoying, sure, but that just proves it does its job perfectly. Honestly, a design where your phone still pings your location would be way more of a flaw for someone serious about signal blocking. So yeah, you learned the hard truth that a real Faraday cage means total isolation, even from yourself.
