Vent: Remember when you could fix a phone by just taking the battery out?

Back around 2015 my old Galaxy S3 would freeze up constantly. Pop the back off, yank the battery for 10 seconds, good as new. Now my Pixel 6 locks up and I'm just stuck staring at a black screen for 5 minutes till it decides to reboot on its own. Anyone else miss being able to hard reset without waiting?

Woah wait you had a Galaxy S3 that lasted till 2015? Mine turned into a pocket heater after like two years and barely held a charge. That phone was a beast though, I remember dropping mine down a flight of stairs and the back cover flew off but the screen didn't even crack. Now I'd probably break my wallet just looking at a repair bill.

Dropping a phone down stairs and not cracking the screen doesn't make it a beast, it just means you got lucky that one time. Every phone is going to have problems after a couple years, that's just how technology works.

@jasonf35 yeah that S3 was tough as nails... mine took a swim in a puddle once and I just dried it out with rice for a day and it worked fine. Definitely miss being able to just pull the battery when things went haywire. Now my phone gets stuck and I'm just sitting there hoping it decides to wake up eventually... feels like we traded durability for style.
