Vent: Garage sale monitor lasted 2 years, but nothing like the old CRT
I grabbed a 24-inch Dell LCD from a garage sale back in 2020 for $15, and it finally gave out last week with a dead pixel line down the middle. My parents' old CRT from the 90s sat in the basement for like 15 years before we finally tossed it. Why is it that the simpler stuff just refuses to die?
Used to think those Dell Optiplexes were basically e-waste after a few years. Then I dug an old one out of storage, put a desk fan on it, and it actually chugged along for another year running a Plex server. Can't argue with results even if it looks ridiculous.
