My smart fridge update broke the ice maker for 3 days

I spent $2,800 on a Samsung fridge last year and thought the auto updates would be great. Last Tuesday a software patch rolled in overnight and my ice maker just quit making cubes. Called support and they told me to wait for a fix, which took 72 hours. Has anyone else had an appliance update mess with basic stuff?

the_parker said the company decided my ice is optional" - guess my fridge thinks I need a cheat day from hydration.

People are missing the real issue here. A fridge that can't make ice for three days because of a software patch means the whole thing is basically a computer that happens to keep things cold. The auto update should be fixable by the user, not locked behind a support call. That 72 hour wait is the company deciding your ice is optional.

Bet my next update will brick the ice maker, too.
