Am I the only one who hates how smart TVs keep sneaking in auto play ads on the home screen?

I was at my buddy's place in Phoenix last weekend and his new LG TV started blasting a trailer for some Netflix show before I could even find the input button, like dude I just want to plug in my laptop why is this thing screaming at me?

Man you touched on something big here but the real issue nobody talks about is how these smart TVs are designed to data mine your viewing habits way more than any auto play ad. That trailer for Netflix is them testing what captures your attention, they track eye movement if the TV has a camera or even how long you stare at the screen before muting it. My sister's Vizio from two years ago literally pulled up a targeted ad for a show I had talked about near my phone the day before, no joke. So it's not just annoying, it's borderline creepy how they're turning your living room into a focus group you never signed up for.

Drives me crazy how nobody connects the dots that your TV is basically a surveillance device you paid for. They're literally using your own hardware to run market research on you in your own home.
