Shoutout to the guy at Best Buy who tried to sell me a $200 HDMI cable
Was picking up a new TV last month at the Best Buy on 4th Ave. The sales guy kept pushing this Monster cable saying it had 'better signal clarity' for 4K. I asked him why my $10 Amazon cable works fine on my other TV. He got all defensive and said I was risking picture quality. Is this just a commission thing or do people actually buy into this stuff?

That Monster markup is insane considering it costs them like 8 bucks to make.

Figure the real cost is in marketing and getting those cans into every gas station and convenience store on the planet. That distribution network doesn't come cheap.

My nephew worked at a Monster warehouse for a summer and said they had cases stacked to the ceiling, but the real money was in the recycling of all those cans. Guess it pays to be the middleman.
