Unpopular take: I actually like autocorrect most of the time

I had a coworker named Candice get so mad at me last Tuesday because my phone changed her name to 'Candace' in a group text. She went on this whole rant about how autocorrect is ruining language and we should all turn it off. I was sitting there thinking, dude, my thumbs are way too fat to type 'definitely' correctly without help. Has anyone else had someone get weirdly angry at you for using autocorrect?

Ruining language? Come on, it's just fixing fat-finger typos.

Agree on some level but noticing a pattern with this stuff. People act like any small change in how we write is an attack on English itself. Same thing happens with slang, abbreviations, even voice typing errors. @gibson.morgan mentioned letting language do its thing, and that feels right. Fifteen years ago people lost their minds over "lol" and now it's just part of everyday writing. Plenty of stuff that looks like a typo today ends up common tomorrow.

Isn't it more about just letting language do its thing, though? Language changes on its own without us needing to "fix" it like a broken spellcheck.
