Dropped my phone in a puddle outside a coffee shop in Austin last week

It was just a little water but the speaker went fuzzy and the charging port stopped working for 2 days. Now I'm wondering if those cheap waterproof pouches actually hold up or if I should just get a proper case. Anyone dealt with water damage on a phone that wasn't fully submerged?

That puddle in Austin was probably just dirty enough to cause issues. I had the same thing happen with my old Samsung, the port didn't work for almost a week and the speaker sounded like it was underwater. The cheap pouches are hit or miss, I tried one from a gas station and the plastic ripped within a month. I ended up getting a proper Otterbox case and it's been solid for two years now, even after a spill at a barbecue. The difference is the cheap ones seal with a fold or zipper that fails, while the good cases use real rubber gaskets. Spend the extra $20, it's worth not having to wait for your port to dry out again.

Dude just get the proper case. Cheap pouches are a joke.
