Grabbed a used ThinkPad off eBay for $120 expecting it to be junk, but 3 weeks in it's running circles around my modern laptop

The battery lasts 8 hours while browsing, the keyboard actually has key travel, and none of my startup apps hang for 10 seconds so I'm wondering if I should just switch full time to a 7 year old machine, has anyone else had better luck with old hardware than new stuff?

Flip it around and think about the build quality. New machines are glued together junk to save money, that old ThinkPad was made when they actually had to last.

I read somewhere that the screws holding those old ThinkPads together are still used in some industrial gear today. Kinda tells you something when a laptop outlives the company that bought it.
