Finally got my old Palm Pilot to sync after 6 years of sitting in a drawer

Spent last Sunday wrestling with a serial-to-USB adapter and some ancient software on Windows 98, and now my 2002 calendar with dentist appointments is backed up on a modern laptop - who else still has a graveyard of PDAs they can't bear to throw out?

Windows 98 still runs? That thing must take ten minutes just to boot up.

Dude yes! I had one back in the day and it took like a solid 8 minutes just to get to the desktop. Then you'd click on something and wait another 30 seconds for the hourglass to stop spinning. Pure pain but at least it was a real operating system, not like the buggy messes we got later.

Man, that's bringing back memories of sitting through that Windows startup sound like it was a whole event. My old 98 machine would freeze up if you even looked at it wrong, but at least it was honest about being slow. Guess my patience wore out faster than that hard drive ever spun up!
