Hot take: I used to think zipping files was a waste of time...

For years I stored everything as huge uncompressed folders on my external drive. Then I tried to email a batch of 50 photos to my sister in Chicago and Gmail laughed at me. The file was 180 MB and I couldn't send it. After 45 minutes of frustration, I finally learned how to zip them down to 22 MB. It was like a lightbulb went off over my head. I wasted so much time before because I thought compression was just for tech nerds. Has anyone else stubbornly avoided a simple tool like that for way too long?

Heard this exact story from my buddy Mark who spent like two hours trying to send a video to his mom through text message. He ended up driving to her house with a flash drive because he refused to Google how to zip it. Next day I showed him in 30 seconds and he just stared at the screen like I'd performed magic.

I used to think people like Mark were just being lazy or stubborn, but honestly this changed my mind after watching my own dad do basically the same thing with a PDF last month. Drove 20 minutes to print something at my house because he couldn't figure out email attachments. Now I get it - when you don't grow up with this stuff, even basic tech problems feel like impossible puzzles.
