Shoutout to anyone who still keeps a CRT monitor around for retro games
I finally dug out my old Sony Trinitron from 1998 to play some PS1 games, and the difference from my flat screen is night and day. PS1 games look like jagged messes on modern TVs, but on the CRT they look crisp and smooth like they did back in the day. I spent like two hours just messing with Gran Turismo 2 and it felt way better than any emulator I've tried. Has anyone else gone back to old hardware and noticed the same thing?

Wait, you got a Trinitron from 1998 to still be working? Those things are legendarily heavy but indestructible. I had one from that era and it took like 3 friends to move it to the basement.

Oh man, I had to carry one up three flights of stairs. Never again.

And honestly I found that taking the tube out first made a huge difference. My buddy and I did it with a 32 inch one and just taking the back cover off and pulling the CRT tube out separately cut the weight in half. Still wasn't fun but it went from a three person job to something two of us could manage with a little swearing. The tube itself is still a beast but it's way easier to grab than the whole unit with the cabinet around it. Your mileage may vary on how much you care about keeping the thing intact of course.
