Rant: Spent 4 hours trying to open a jar of pickles before I found the trick
I grabbed a new jar of pickles from the fridge last night, twisted that lid for a solid 4 minutes, and nothing. Ran it under hot water, tapped it on the counter, even wrapped a rubber band around it. Finally after 4 hours of coming back to it angry, I noticed a tiny dent on the rim where the lid was crimped. Popped it with a butter knife and it opened in 2 seconds flat. Has anyone else found a dumb simple fix like that after way too much effort?

Is it really the jar's fault though when your first instinct was to spend 4 hours wrestling with it instead of just looking at the lid? I mean, we all get frustrated, but that tiny dent was probably visible from the start if you'd taken a second to inspect the thing. Sometimes we just get too caught up in hammering away at a problem instead of stepping back to look for the actual simple solution.

Wait, four hours? That's... honestly kind of impressive in a terrifying way. I mean, @nguyen.morgan, you're telling me someone stared at a dented lid for four hours and never thought to just check the lid first? I've definitely done my share of wrestling with jars, but I usually give up after 5 minutes and ask someone else to try. Four hours is a whole different level of dedication... or stubbornness.

Four hours is wild. You must've been real hungry and real stubborn at the same time.
