We were talking about a local mystery he's been following from a true crime forum. Now I notice small stuff I never did before, like a car that's always parked weird. Does chatting with other sleuths make you pay more attention to your own area?

Got way too into a podcast about missing hikers last year. Started timing my own dog walks by when this one guy in a blue hoodie always jogs past my street. Never would have clocked his schedule before.

Spot something weird enough times and it stops being weird, it just becomes a fact. Like that one car with the busted taillight that's always parked three streets over, or how your neighbor only buys groceries on Tuesday nights. Once your brain locks onto a pattern it can't let go, price.ben. Your detective mode isn't making normal stuff shady, it's just finally noticing how reliably strange the normal stuff actually is, lmao.
