Just realized I was the one who ruined my last relationship by over-explaining everything

I dated this guy Dave for 8 months and every time we had a disagreement, I would launch into this whole detailed breakdown of why I felt the way I did. Like I'd give him a timeline of events and my thought process step by step. He finally snapped and said it felt like I was giving a court deposition instead of talking to him. It hit me that I was trying to control the outcome by being too thorough. Now I see how that came off as defensive and cold. Has anyone else been told they act like a lawyer in arguments?
