My ex kept leaving dishes in the sink for 3 days... took me 8 months to realize it wasn't about the dishes

So I dated this guy Mike for about two years and he had this habit of leaving dirty plates in the sink until they got crusty and gross. I'm a house cleaner so I know a thing or two about keeping things tidy, and I kept asking him to just rinse them off, you know? He would apologize every time but nothing changed. I finally broke up with him after 8 months of this back and forth. Then a few weeks later a friend pointed out that Mike never actually respected my time or my space, the dishes were just the thing I could see. Has anyone else had a relationship end over something small that turned out to be a bigger problem?

And dried spaghetti sauce hiding deep thoughts" lol that hits close to home. I was in the same boat last week, staring at a pan with crusty cheese stuck to it. I finally just soaked it in hot water with a drop of dish soap for like 20 minutes while I scrolled my phone. Came back and it practically wiped clean. No scrubbing needed. Sometimes you just gotta let things sit for a bit before they make sense.
