The 'three strike' rule I used on my ex that finally made me leave for good
After 2 years of my ex promising to change and never doing it, I started counting every broken promise. I gave him 3 chances on each thing like showing up late or forgetting important dates. When he hit strike 3 on the same issue 4 months ago, I walked out without saying a word. It sounds dumb but having a clear number made it easier to stop making excuses for him. Has anyone else set a hard limit like this and actually stuck to it?

ben_lewis I get why you'd laugh about it, but I think having a clear number helped me stop the cycle. It sounds like you gave it a real shot though, and that's what matters.
