My cheap umbrella flipped inside out 6 times in one Chicago block last Tuesday

I was walking to the L stop during that sudden downpour and my $8 drugstore umbrella flipped inside out on Michigan Avenue. The wind caught it so bad the third time it snapped one of the ribs completely off. I just tossed it in a trash can and walked the rest of the way soaked. Has anyone found a pocket umbrella that can actually handle city wind without turning into a useless metal spider?

My cousin bought a $50 one on amazon and the first gust snapped it clean in half like a twig.

Useless metal spider" is exactly right... my wife bought me one of those little pocket umbrellas that folds up real small and looked like a magic trick. First gust of wind and it turned inside out so fast I swear it scared a pigeon. I carried that bent up thing around for weeks before I finally threw it out, just kept forgetting it was in my bag...

Give up on pocket umbrellas for windy cities. Get a sturdy golf umbrella instead and just deal with being slightly less portable.
