Can we talk about that weird conversation with my grandpa about cattle mutilations?

I was visiting my grandpa in rural Kansas last week and he brought up those old cattle mutilation cases from the 70s. He said he saw a cow near Dodge City with a perfect circle cut out of its side, no blood, and the vet couldn't explain it. That hit different cause he's not into conspiracy stuff at all, just a farmer who doesn't BS. He mentioned a neighbor saw a silent black triangle over the field that same night in 1978. Made me wonder if there's something to these reports that can't be written off as pranks or predators. Has anyone else had a family member share a story that made you question things?

Jesus Christ, imagine being the vet who has to write "circle cut out, no blood, dunno lol" on the paperwork. Sounds like grandpa was trying to give you a cryptid starter pack - black triangle, mutilated cow, mysterious vet. Next he'll tell you the aliens preferred their steak rare.

Call the county ag office first thing, get the vet records yourself. Had a similar thing happen on my uncle's place years back, turned out the old guy was cutting the cows himself for some weird folk remedy he read about. The vet will usually share the report if you explain it's for family medical history, they deal with suspicious stuff like this more than you'd think. Just ask for the necropsy notes straight up, don't dance around it.

Read a book called "The Mothman Prophecies" a few years back that goes deep into this kind of stuff, and the author tracked down some wild vet reports from that era. @smith.parker brings up a good point about checking with the county ag office, but in those 70s cases, a lot of the official records supposedly got mishandled or just disappeared. Grandpa might not be pulling your leg if he actually saw the cow before anyone could tamper with it.
