I finally saw something strange in the Nevada desert last month

I was camping about 20 miles outside of Rachel, Nevada, just staring up at the stars. Around 2 AM, a cluster of three bright lights moved in a perfect triangle, then just stopped dead in the sky for a full minute. They didn't blink or make a sound, they just hung there. Then, all at once, they shot off in different directions faster than anything I've ever seen. Has anyone else spotted something like that near Area 51, or was I just really tired?

Sounds like a textbook drone show. Military tests those near the border all the time. You were probably just seeing some new tech on a night flight.

Totally get that. Saw something similar last year over the desert. Grabbed a pair of cheap night vision binoculars (the kind for stargazing) and it made all the difference. You could clearly see the shapes and flight patterns, which ruled out planes or satellites. Felt way less spooky once it was just weird tech and not unknowns.

Honestly thought it was something else entirely until I saw a whole group of them moving together over the lake. They were dead silent and turning in ways no plane could. That kind of coordination just screams military drones, not anything weird. Totally changed how I see those lights now.
