I used to just watch the sky, but now I keep a log and it's a game changer

Honestly, for years I'd just look up if I saw something weird and then forget the details. Last summer, I started a simple log on my phone with the date, time, direction, and what I saw. I compared my old way to this new method after a weird light show over Phoenix in August. With the log, I could actually check flight paths later and rule out planes, which happened twice. The difference is having real facts instead of just a fuzzy memory. Has anyone else tried keeping a proper log and did it help you figure anything out?

That sounds like a lot of work for a hobby. Tried logging for a month and it just felt like homework. Half the fun for me is the mystery, not solving it.
