Saw a triangle of lights over Phoenix last year, thought it was flares until I checked the flight tracker

Makes me wonder how often we see something weird and just shrug it off. We're trained to find the normal answer first, which is good, but maybe we miss the real weird stuff because of it. You ever feel like that?

Silent doesn't mean much, I mean flares can look silent from a distance if the wind's right. And that triangle shape is super common for military exercises, they do that formation all the time. Your eyes can play tricks in the dark, especially with lights against a black sky. It's way more likely to be something normal like that than anything else. People just jump to wild conclusions before checking the simple stuff.

Asked yourself why military exercises would need to be silent over a major city at night? Think about it, if it was training they'd probably have some noise or radio chatter. The silence is the weird part. Lots of military stuff makes noise even from miles away. I've seen Apache helicopters at night, you hear them before you see them. That triangle formation thing is possible but why over a populated area at 2 AM? Makes no sense to me unless they wanted someone to see it.
