Spent $75 on a used camera that caught a weird light streak over my barn
Bought this old Canon from a garage sale and last night it picked up a fast moving orange orb that seemed to stop and hover for a few seconds. Has anyone else gotten clear footage from cheap gear that you didn't expect to work?

You said "funny how the cheap junk sometimes pulls the weirdest stuff." I see it different. Those old cameras have simpler sensors with less filtering built in. That means they pick up things like lens flares, dust particles close to the lens, or even bugs with a reflective coating that new cameras block out. A dirty lens or a scratched filter can also scatter light into weird shapes. It's not magic, it's just physics. The camera didn't "catch" anything, it just recorded what was actually there that you couldn't see with your eyes.

Bet, so @corap21 is basically saying junk cameras are better at being honest about what's in front of them. Funny how "garbage" tech sometimes shows you more than the fancy stuff that's designed to hide it.

Wait, so what do you think those blocked things actually are?

Dude that "orange orb" thing is wild. I had a similar thing happen with a beat-up old Nikon I got for like $50 at a thrift store. Caught this bright white light zipping across the sky over my backyard one night, no idea what it was but the camera barely worked otherwise. Funny how the cheap junk sometimes pulls the weirdest stuff.
