That guy at the truck stop who knew my hometown

I was refueling at a Pilot in North Dakota at 3 AM when some random trucker walked up and said 'you're from Flagstaff, right?' without me saying a word. He then described my street and the crack in my driveway perfectly. I still don't know how he knew that, and it's been 8 months.

That trucker probably ran into someone who knew you or recognized your truck. Truckers talk to each other all the time, especially at terminals and rest stops. If you've got a custom plate or a bumper sticker from Flagstaff, word spreads fast through the CB radio grapevine. Some drivers keep mental notes on regulars they see on the road too.

Yeah that reminds me of a buddy of mine who had something similar happen. He stopped at a diner in Wyoming and this waitress actually asked him if his mom's hip surgery went okay. He never told her anything and she wasn't anyone he knew. Turns out his mom posted about it on Facebook and the waitress had a friend who lived in their town and saw the post. People talk way more than you think, especially in small towns or among people who drive the same routes. So that trucker probably just heard it from someone who knew you through a chain of strangers.

Saw a Reddit thread once where a trucker admitted they track plates for fun, @emmam89.
