That weird light show over the Salton Sea last month still bugs me

I drove out to the Salton Sea for a weekend trip because my cousin wanted to photograph the abandoned buildings and that crazy boat graveyard. Around 9pm we were sitting by the shore, and I saw this string of amber lights moving in a straight line, way too slow to be a plane, and they made no sound at all. We watched for maybe 4 minutes until they just blinked out one by one, not like they flew away, more like someone flipped a switch. My cousin pulled out his phone but by then it was just black sky, and his camera only caught a blurry orange dot that couldve been a reflection. I checked flight radar apps and nothing showed up in that area, which is weird because that airspace is pretty busy with planes going to LA. Has anyone else seen something like this around remote desert spots, or am I just too into those UFO docs late at night?

That bit about the lights blinking out one by one like a switch, thats the part that gets me. Ive had almost the exact same thing happen out near the Mojave, and I learned pretty quick to bring a good pair of binoculars and a tripod if youre gonna sit out there at night. Phone cameras are useless for this, trust me. Next time, try recording with the video setting and keep your finger on the screen to lock the focus, it helps a little. Also, check the military base schedules, they do weird drone tests out of China Lake and Edwards that never show on flight apps. Im not saying its aliens, but Ive seen enough strange stuff out there to know its not all explainable either.
