The Drake equation number that stopped me cold was N equals 36
Was reading a physics blog last night and the writer ran the Drake equation with conservative numbers. Got 36 communicating civilizations in our galaxy right now. Not one. Thirty six. I sat there doing the math on the odds of us ever bumping into any of them and it got worse, not better. Anybody got a source that argues the number should be way lower? I want to sleep again.
