TIL my old way of looking for 'orbs' in photos was wrong. Now I check for lens flare with a flashlight before I get excited.

Yeah, the "check for lens flare with a flashlight" thing is such a good tip. I used to get so hyped about weird lights in my photos. Then I saw someone do that test, shining a light at the lens to make the same shape appear. It totally changed how I look at those pictures now. I feel a bit silly for all the old photos I saved thinking they were something special. It's way more likely to be just the camera acting up.

Totally, @the_fiona's flashlight trick saved me from a dozen "ghosts" last month.

Honestly, I was the same way for years. I had a whole folder of "spooky orb" pictures from an old house. Learning that flashlight test made me go back and check, and every single one was just dust or a reflection. It was a real eye-opener.

Yeah, that "camera acting up" line really hits home. I had a whole album I was sure was full of spirits. Now I just see dust and bad lighting, you know? It's funny how one simple trick can totally change what you're looking at.
